Doing the Right Thing

Last night Winter was so funny. We were waiting for Grammy after church and Win wanted her "fishies" from bible class. They were just gummie snacks so it wasn't that big of a deal. But it was late and we didn't want her having too much sugar so she had the choice....ice cream in a few minutes or "fishies" now. Of course she chose the gummies now because they were there now. We explained to her several times that if she cried for ice cream in a little bit that she would be in trouble. We are trying to teach her about the choices she makes and how they have an effect on things. Later, we got to Sonic and William, Mom, and I were getting come ice cream. I looked back and her face when Grammy got her "cream". The lip was out and she was NOT happy. BUT, and I was proud of her for this, she didn't say a word. No tears or anything. Her face made it plain that she wasn't happy, but she remembered the choice she made, even without being reminded, so she had to stick with it. We got to the post office and Grammy offered her a drink. I had said to Mom that it was okay as long as she didn't ask for it. She shook her head and said "No Grammy. Mommy and Daddy said no that I couldn't have any." I don't think I have ever been more proud of Winter's choices! Right then I turned around and told her how good that was and how proud I was for her making the right choice. I told her she could have some of mine because she did good. Even when I didn't give her any more bites, she didn't cry because she knew it was a special thing. I was so proud!!
