Ignore the clothes and try to tell the difference. On is Win and one is Maxx. They were taken when they were about the same age. WOW!! They are brother and sister!!

Christmas Pictures

William and I were talking at the table one night and got this video of Maxx. It is quite funny! Here are some pictures from the various Christmas parties.

I have a funny video to put on here but it wouldn't work. I will keep working on it.

Singing Sister/Halloween/"Gun Totin" Win

It has been an interesting month. All is going well. Maxx is REALLY growing fast and eating a lot! Win is getting better about her attitude, I guess that is partly because I am too!! For Halloween, Win was a green M&M and Maxx was a pumpkin for a little while. He was laying down at Trunk or Treat and couldn't sit up well because the suit was too tight! It got hot so I had to take it off of him. Yes, that is her cleaning the toilet and washing the dishes! She LOVES it...really she does! She asks to clean the toilet!!! Gun Totin Win...do I need to say more?

(And one week later........) All is still going well. I tried to get these pictures up last week some time but they wouldn't load. So, I'm just now getting to it again!! Maxx had the Chicken Pox scare on Friday so we went to the doc. He is TWENTY pounds!!! He better get taller!! Pray for Maxx. He has an appointment with a urologist this week. I won't go into why because when he's older he will be mad at me!! (appointment went fine. Can't do anything about it for another year so we wait and see for now!)

Recent pictures and update on us

I got a note from a friend of mine the other day reminding me that I haven't put pictures on my blog in a while. :) No excuses really. I told my sister this morning that I don't get on the computer much at home. Too much other stuff to do! So, since the mower wouldn't work this morning and I'm not mowing, I guess I will get some pictures uploaded and give everyone and update on us. I tried to get this done last night but I kept getting kicked off the Internet. It was frustrating and I said oh well! I later realized that Win was knocking the modem over behind her bed.

Win is doing better at school now. It seems that it took her a few weeks to get used to everything. I really think the sassyness that came right after school started was because she thought I was leaving her and was sad. When we drive to school and other places she is always asking how to spell something. She knows a few words now and is always interested in how to spell big words. I have to be careful though because I might spell the word wrong!!

Winter playing in her room.

William got the guitar that we got with the car out for Win to play. She seemed to like it and is always asking to play! Hey, I'm glad she likes music!!

Winter made the "Neck-A-lace" she's wearing. She's rather proud of it!!

Maxx is growing like a weed as you can tell from the pictures. I had to take him to the doctor this week. Mama (where they stay) called me because he had a rash all over the right side of his face. The doc said that he had some respiratory issues...bronchitis is what I understood from him. He's on an antibiotic and some other stuff. I sure hope he gets better soon! I didn't realize he was that sick. He was always laughing and cooing and stuff. He was stopped up and his eye was running but the nurse on the phone said it was probably a clogged tear duct. Anyway, he will get better.

This one cracked me up because his eyes are crossed and he's trying to look at the toy! Funny Maxx!!
Speaking of Maxx....I was outside talking to William while he was changing the oil in the truck. He made a movement with his head and it was just like Maxx...well I guess Maxx is just like William!

Check out the fauxhawk!! :) (Inspired by a student of mine)

Sweet sleeping Maxx...folding his hands like he's praying!

Win and Maxx...she actually likes him...right now anyway!

William is doing okay in school. AT first it was a big adjustment to be able to do his homework and work too. There are some days when there is a lot to get done in the short time he has so I have helped him some. He will get better as the semester goes by! He told me this morning that mid terms are in two weeks! WOW!! That seems fast!!
These last two pictures are my new favorites!!

"Blast from the Past" day

A couple of weeks ago was homecoming at Overton. (The week after the hurricane to be exact.) Anyway, one of the days was blast from the past day. I dressed up...see the picture below. Here is the sad part....my students said I looked great! lol They said you need to wear your hair like that more often! I think they mean I need to wear it down. At least that is how I'm going to take it anyway! So, I have decided to get a hair cut. (I realized that I have had the same hair style for about 10-15 years!!) The hair style I'm going for is below too. I'm strange I know! I was watching an episode of What Not to Wear and said I want that hair! Yes, I took a picture of the TV! I haven't gotten it yet, but I will soon!! Let me know what you think!

Spelling Lessons from Winter

Winter....she is something else! We talk a lot about how to spell things, dog, cat, fish, and so on. Win and I were walking into Wal-Mart the other day and she said "You spell Wal-Mart W A L star M A R T" We had talked about the walmart sign and what letters were there and so on so I guess that is what prompted her to spell Wal-Mart. How funny that she would say "Star" in the middle. She saw it there, so I guess that is how it should be spelled!!

Maxx at 5 to 6 Weeks

Here are some recent pictures of Maxx. I can't belive he's 6 weeks already! He is growing fast and Winter seems to enjoy having him around. He will look for the voices he knows, and seems to listen to his siter. It is cute when she's talking and he's looking at her. Anyway, just thought I would share these!

Events leading to the entrance of Maxx

I am finally taking the time to sit and write about what happened last week! On Tuesday I started having contractions at about 6:30pm. I kept up with them and they were getting stronger and felt different. It seemed more real to me than the other had that day. So, William fixed supper for him and Winter and then we headed over to the hospital at about 7:30-8. By the time we got to Longview, much to my demise, the contractions stopped! I was so upset because I just KNEW it was the real thing! I didn't want to get into the hospital and then go back home. So, we talked about it for a little while and decided to go somewhere and shop for a little while. We went to Michael's...yes WILLIAM too me to Michael's...the sad part was, I didn't feel like buying anything!!! Anyway, about 5 minutes after I was up and moving the contractions were back! William really wanted to get the Wii fit, so we went to Best Buy and got one. By that time, I knew we needed to head back to the hospital.

By the time we got there, checked in, and got me checked out, it was about 9:45. Finally, after being watched for 2 or so hours, I was dilated to a 2 and they decided to keep me. As soon as the nurse said Dr. John said you are staying I asked for my epidural! Bring on the drugs!!! Labor progressed slow after that and we got some rest. Not too much because I was getting sick to my stomach and the medicine they gave me for that made me feel anxious. WOW!!! That was a trip. Hey, something to try...try to keep yourself from puking, or even try dry heaving, when you have had an epidural! It was the strangest feeling EVER!

Anyway..... :) At about 7:45, my doctor came in and broke my water. After that, the contractions got harder. Finally at about 12:20 I got to push. I say got to because I was so ready at that point!I pushed for no more than 10 minutes and Maxx was here. To me, the birth was the uneventful part. They couldn't get me to stop bleeding and were working on that for about 2 hours. (Mind you I haven't eaten since about 3pm Tuesday.) I remember my doctor coming in and telling me what was going to happen, giving me Demerol, and then some other doctor telling me that they were taking me to the OR (I think that is where it was) to do a D&C. He was telling me all about it and to this day I don't have a clue what happened! I lost about 4 hours that afternoon. It all worked out, but by that time I had lost a good bit of blood. They said I didn't need to be given blood, but that I would be anemic for a while. I was VERY sore the next day and am finally only feeling sore because of having the baby...not all the other stuff.
I will say, after Maxx arrived, it was rather frightening. We are all okay now. Maxx is so handsome and Winter is doing well with him. I'm honestly surprised at how well she's doing. She will hold him, feed him, and her job is to put the diaper in the trash when he is changed. She loves it and loves her little brother.
I have some great pictures of Winter, Maxx, and William but for some reason the camera and card in the camera are flipping out. I will get them up here as soon as I can!

Maxx Odell Curry

Well, he finally made it here. It was a rather eventful entrance on Wednesday afternoon...well, not really for him, more for me. But I'm feeling okay now and recovering. I will post the pictures for now and share more as I have more energy! Enjoy.

Should we be teaching her the difference already???

Okay, this is the prefect post to come after the streaking one!

First off, I need to explain that I have been teaching the abstinence program (some call it Virginity rules) to some of my classes. One of the things we talked about was keeping all of your clothes on all the way, all of the time. After about 2 weeks of teaching that, we are at Lane and Mary's house for dinner and 42 when Winter and Dane decided to take their shirts off. Win came running in from the other room half naked and we had to explain to her that girls can take their shirts off but boys can. After a few minutes of eating ice cream, we heard Dane trying to get Win to take her shirt off. I will say for Winter that she kept telling him that "Mommy said not to" because she didn't want to get in trouble.
However, the best part of the night was when Lane overheard Winter tell Dane "If you will stop asking I will take my shirt off!" We almost hit the floor!! I know at 9 or 10 or even 5 or 6 it won't be funny anymore. But at 3, she doesn't really get it. Thankfully she's still innocent!

Arrested for streaking at age three??

Okay, picture this.......

Monday mom and I went shopping and were in Cavenders. Mom wanted Win to try on a shirt and, we didn't want to bother going to the dressing room, so she took her shirt off there and put the other on her. (Mistake number one!) Well there was a cute skirt there, so we already have the shirt on...so why not the skirt too. So mom took her pants off and put the skirt on her. (Mistake number two!) After we decided we wanted the skirt and not the shirt, we took her try on clothes off and went for her other clothes. (Mistake number three!!) Win is a quick one!! She had on panties and purple crocks and off she went! It was only down the boot isle so it wasn't THAT big of a deal, but still, can you be arrested for streaking at age three? It was very funny to say the least. She was laughing and so were we! Finally we got her clothes back on, paid, and left. Cavenders workers, well only one, will never be the same!!

Doing the Right Thing

Last night Winter was so funny. We were waiting for Grammy after church and Win wanted her "fishies" from bible class. They were just gummie snacks so it wasn't that big of a deal. But it was late and we didn't want her having too much sugar so she had the choice....ice cream in a few minutes or "fishies" now. Of course she chose the gummies now because they were there now. We explained to her several times that if she cried for ice cream in a little bit that she would be in trouble. We are trying to teach her about the choices she makes and how they have an effect on things. Later, we got to Sonic and William, Mom, and I were getting come ice cream. I looked back and her face when Grammy got her "cream". The lip was out and she was NOT happy. BUT, and I was proud of her for this, she didn't say a word. No tears or anything. Her face made it plain that she wasn't happy, but she remembered the choice she made, even without being reminded, so she had to stick with it. We got to the post office and Grammy offered her a drink. I had said to Mom that it was okay as long as she didn't ask for it. She shook her head and said "No Grammy. Mommy and Daddy said no that I couldn't have any." I don't think I have ever been more proud of Winter's choices! Right then I turned around and told her how good that was and how proud I was for her making the right choice. I told her she could have some of mine because she did good. Even when I didn't give her any more bites, she didn't cry because she knew it was a special thing. I was so proud!!

Okra Okra where the wind comes sweepin' down tha plains!

Winter was talking to Auntie on the phone today and asked her where she was. Shiann told Win that she was in Oklahoma. Apparently that isn't what Win her. When she was finished talking, which didn't take long, I asked her where Auntie was. She plainly said "She's in Okra Okra." And her face was very serious. So, Texas is now south of Okra Okra...hmmm fry that one up!

Something else she said that was funny....
We were coming home from somewhere and she saw a pile of asphalt rock. She said look mommy an ant house! I explained that it wasn't but she insisted that it was. (This is what got me though) She said "Don't step on ant houses, the ants will annoy you!" I asked her what annoy means and she said "They get on your and bite you." I guess to a three year old, that is a pretty good definition of annoy!

7 Random Things About Me (In repsonse to being taged)

Here is my response to Shiann's and I think Kara's tag....

1. I like hot sauce but don't care for tomatoes and peppers by themselves.

2. Dissecting Biology specimens, mixing chemicals, and generally playing in the high school science lab is fun for me!! (notice I said high school...don't think I would be able to handle a college chem lab!)

3. William and I talked about having girls for all 4 seasons. After the prom the other night, I think I might have changed my mind! We can't afford for 4 girls to go to prom!! Especially when they will probably go to a small school where it ends up that almost everyone goes to prom all 4 years.

4. I love teaching science!

5. Cleaning is not something I like to do, but I feel better after a clean house. Can I get someone else to do it??

6. I like green polish on my toenails.

7. Part of me wishes that June would get her so Max will come, the other part says..am I really ready for 2 kids?

I will tag Mary as I don't have anyone else to tag!! Hope you enjoyed my random thoughts for the day!

Happenings as of Late

I haven't posted in a few days or weeks (I can't remember because the days run together after a while) so I thought I would share some random things I can remember! (The memory is going too!! If I don't make a schedule on my bulletin board at school for the week, I have NO CLUE what we are doing and where we are!)

1. Winter got up from her nap on Sunday afternoon and it was SO very funny. She has a Thomas track thing that plays circus music. I heard her hit the button and then come out of her room. The look on her face, it was PRICELESS!! The music should come with a happy face, but not that day! Her hair was EVERYWHERE and her face....the look on her face was "Don't talk to me, I'm in a very, very bad mood!" I wish I would have had a camera!

2. Prom...don't ever be a prom sponsor and be 7, almost 8 months pregnant at the same time!

3. Do girls come out of the womb with the instinct that daddy has the money? We were at Auto Zone, only Win and I, and I bought her a coke. The clerk asked her if she would like Mommy's change and she stated "No, that is Mommy's money. I get my money from my daddy!" She was very matter of fact about it and quite serious. WOW!! We have a lot of training to do!!

4. Winter has said on several occasions "Momma, I want my bruver (brother)." Every time, I have to explain to her that Max will be here soon and that we are all ready for him to be here.

5. After I read what Kara had to say about Peyton's birth and what Fridays are like at their house, I became a little frightened and anxious. I'm sure everything will go fine, but the anticipation is starting to get to me. As you can tell from the top of my blog, from today anyway, only 62 days to go. That means 2 pay checks (for me anyway), less than 6 weeks left in school, ONE week until Science TAKS test...there are so many things between now and then. I guess if I keep thinking of staying busy, I will be okay!

I know there are more things that I would like to share, but I can't think of them right now. "Placenta brain", as my friend Angela has called it, has set in BIG TIME.

Looking Back over the last three years

It is amazing to me, and sometimes sad too, that Winter Elizabeth will be three on Sunday (3-30). The sad part comes in when I think of all the time that has passed and the things I have said to her. I know we are all human and we have our days, but wow, we really can't take back the things we say! But there have also been good time. More good than bad really. When the computer is on screen saver I look at the pictures and think of all the time that has passed and how much Winter has changed. Thinking about that has made me want to put some pictures together on here to remember the last three years. I hope y'all enjoy them!

Thomas and a Pink "Cow girl hat"

Winter got these from her GiGi and aunt Jenni for her birthday next week. I just had to share! She was so excited about the Thomas house that she wanted to sleep in it tonight. I told her she could on Friday night since we don't have school the next day. I will for sure get pictures of that! Enjoy the picutres!

What did I do???

Alright, anyone who has had a first child might agree with what I have to say here, while others might say..WOW!!! That was a lot of stuff! As we get ready for Max Mom and I started cleaning out Winter's old clothes and room today. My friend Mary is having a girl, so she's the lucky one who gets to go through all of this stuff! Anyway, all that to say...WHERE DID I GET THE MONEY AND TIME TO BUY ALL OF THESE CLOTHES??? I know some of it came from others and I was given a couple of trash bags of things, but wow!! it is amazing the amount of clothes I have. I must admit to William when he gets home later how much was bought while he was gone to Iraq. I guess shopping was what I did. Man, wish I would have realized that at the time. I probably would have stopped myself! There are 2 1/2 big black garbage bags of clothes from 12-18 months...this was the end of the time when he was gone. WOW!!!! :) All totaled, there are 7 1/2 big bags of clothes and one box of bibs, blankets, and hair stuff for girls! Mary, aren't you excited for Wednesday???

Welcome Comet!!

When Winter decided that she would poop in the potty, we told her we would get her a dog. It took us a few weeks to decide what to do and finally we went to the local Humane Society to look at what they had there. While there, we found this cute puppy. He was about 4 or so months old, and that is a guess. His card said he was a lab mix with something. (We have decided that it is mix with hound dog...he's got the bark and laziness!!) We just fell in love with this dog! This was on a Saturday. Because of their rules, we had to wait until he had been there for at least 72 hours just in case the owners came to get him. On Wednesday, we went to pick Comet up. After a couple of days frustration with using the bathroom in the floor, we have finally gotten adjusted to Comet being around. He is mostly potty trained if you pay attention to him and he's great with Winter. He will put up with her "playing" with him and "hugging" him and hasn't bitten or growled at her when she didn't deserve it. Anyway, I thought I would finally share these pictures of Winter and Comet. Isn't he a cutie???

What is it????

Well, I went to the doctor again today and have been working on not stressing about what sex the baby is. We have gone two times and the cord was between the legs so I decided that we were not going to find out what we were going to have until the baby is born. Well, I guess that did the trick! After a few minutes, the doctor was able to get some different views and let us know that it is a BOY!! I was so expecting a girl, so I'm still getting over the shock of it all. Of course he said that he isn't 100% sure until the baby is born, but he said he's only been wrong 1 out of 500 times. He said say 2 out of 1000 to make it sound better! Anyway, we are having a Max Odell...unless he comes out wiht red hair and then it will be a William #5! More later!!

Lack of Cooperation :(

Well, William and I went to the doc today to see what the baby is and it wasn't successful. :( The doc said that every time he thought it was either a boy or a girl, he realized it was the cord in the way. So, we wait another three weeks. March 3rd. I have thought of trying for a 3D somewhere, but we don't need to spend money on that and this will be a good lesson in patience!

Taking Full Advantage of the Potty

Well, I have news to report!!!! Winter has finally decided to take full advantage of the toilet! William has been trying to get her motivated to use the potty for a while. She will stay dry in "big girl panties" as she calls them, but hasn't wanted to stay clean. On Sunday at small groups, someone had a min pin puppy that she just LOVED! He notice this and finally told her if she used the potty to poop then he would get her a puppy. Well, she finally did!! I know bribing is bad...but hey, it is working right? We went to supper Tuesday night and celebrated with her and then took her to the pet store. There was a puppy there that we wanted, but the store REALLY liked it (to the tune of $600!!!!!), so we didn't get it. On Wednesday morning she messed in her pull up before school. She told William, "But I didn't poop in my big girl panties!" So, we still have some things to work on, but she did it again today. It seems as if we are finally on the way to potty trained! I hope it is good and done before the next one comes along in June!

On that note, I will have more to report on the sex of the baby, if it cooperates, on Monday, Feb 11th. We just can't wait!!
More then!!!

A great recipe!

I have been trying new things over the past few weeks and came upon Mexican Style Lasagna. It looked like something William would like so I gave it a shot! It was GREAT so I thought I would share it with others! He went on and on about it and we even had it again last night. So here is my rendition:

1 pound ground beef
1 can black beans - any type are fine...this is what I had
Velveeta
shredded cheese of some type
Salsa - I used my own
Corn tortillas - recipe called for flower, but I didn't have any

Cook meat, add cheese and a little bit of water for a sauce (recipe said 1/4 cup I think). Allow cheese to melt. Rinse beans and add to meat. (I would only rinse them if they are black beans.) Put about 1/4 of the mixture on the bottom of a 8x8 pan. Layer with tortillas leaving the meat mixture on top. Cook at 425 for 30 minutes. Add grated cheese on top at last 5 minutes. Let sit for a few then enjoy!!

Hope you love it as much as we do!!
